"Bolivia brought me the most precious of jewels, my wife. We have been here several times to visit family and see what it has to offer photographically. La Paz has been the start of our trips here. It is in the Andes on the edge of the Altiplano. We had the opportunity to spend a few days traveling through the salt flats near Solar de Uyuni. One of the most desolate places on earth and one of the most beautiful. Near a very active volcanic system, many colors come to life as the mountains deposit minerals into the lakes where the flamingos live. Cacti and salt make up most of the landscape for miles, and the crisp air and high altitude make for fantastic night skies. The scenery is so different, it is almost like being on the moon. "
